Fatigue (also known as weariness, tiredness, exhaustion, low energy and weakness) is a state where a person finds it difficult to function due to periods of prolonged physical or mental activity. Everyone has been tired at some time in their lives. The degree of tiredness varies from individual to individual and some people never seem to feel tired whilst others are constantly tired.

Fatigue can be a normal and important response to physical exertion, emotional stress, boredom, or lack of sleep. As fatigue can be felt both mentally and physically it is considered to be a symptom, as it is reported by an individual and is not an objective sign that can be observed by a third party. As fatigue is a symptom, it can be a sign of a more serious psychological or physical disorder. When fatigue is not relieved by enough sleep, good nutrition, or a low-stress environment, it should be evaluated by your doctor.
